From 24 to 26 September 2008, thousands of creative minds from all over the world will come together in Amsterdam for the third PICNIC.

I will be there to meet people, to feel and catch what will happen very soon, ’cause PICNIC is three inspiring days of ideas, fun and sensory stimulation in media technology, entertainment, art and science.

The dynamism of the Pays de La Loire Region ICT cluster

by Monique

26 août 2008

The Pays de la Loire Region is a dynamic region thanks to the sectors of electronics and ICT that represent a significant share of jobs in the region, spread over all the territory, serving diversified end markets.
Mainly electronics companies have formed a chain, called ETIC. This group formed among key industry players: EOLANE, TRONICO, CREATIVE EURECOM, FAPRONIC,…. and whose animation is covered by the CCI of Maine-et-Loire, is strongly supported by public authorities (French State and Pays de la Loire Region).
In one year of existence, this group has managed to launch concrete projects, innovative, which have already begun to bear fruit. These results are especially encouraging that the sector is a local initiative, created by players on the basis of limited resources.

Exemple of innovation in Pays de la Loire region : the company Kéosys based in St Herblain, near Nantes, which is the leader in imaging and communication systems for nuclear medicine (NM, SPECT/CT & PET/CT) & radiology (CR, CT, MG & MRI) has developed the pen communicating that has a connection via Internet and telephone.

Just4U2know : nice and zen “Starry Garden” at Paimboeuf (Estuaire 2007-2009-2011)

by Monique

11 juil 2008

The “Starry garden” is a work of Kinya Maruyama, a Japanese artist, made in connection with the Paimboeuf inhabitants.

It is one of the 6 pieces of work Estuaire Nantes <> Saint Nazaire 2007-2009-2011 that are installed permanently between Nantes and St Nazaire along the Loire.

Yes, the 5th other works (described on Invest in Europe blog) are nice and interesting : “Les anneaux - D. Buren & P. Bouchain, “Did I miss something ? ” - Jeppe Hein, “L’Observatoire” - Tadashi Kawamata, “Suite de Triangles Saint Nazaire 2007″ - Felice Varini and “Misconceivable” - Erwin Wurm (please tell that this work must be installed permanently in Le Pellerin !).

But I do prefer the “Starry Garden”.
To understand why, now, watch a piece of a video about the “Starry Garden” and listen to the bells and the wind ! So nice and quiet !
