I remind a time when I had no money to buy even a CD :’( I used RadioBlogClub to listen to selected music I liked. I could keep going but it’s now closed. Luckily, Deezer appeared and now Jiwa, a launch which sparks controversy about illegal download of music on the web. To me, needless to say the streaming of music seems to be the solution to piracy when all the labels throw into a panic and the artists despair to live on their music someday… Goodbye Emule, Bittorent or other peer2peer applications. Now it’s time for free and legal music! Here is the innovation. So, how can it last?
- Funding: Deezer and Jiwa are both financed by advertising. In support, Jiwa benefits from a commission plan from the Internet Company.
- Society: both are using a community system which allows them to target a large audience won by Facebook, MySpace, Flickr, etc.
- Law: a drawback for Deezer, because even though the owners signed a commitment with the SACEM, the way to collect the content does not seem so legal. Jiwa has just signed with Universal Music and Believe and thus, has a strictly legal access to around 400,000 songs.
- Technology: unfortunately the Deezer and Jiwa’s users still deplore the lack of a mobile application.
